To secure an internship with the Airports Authority of India (AAI), a B.Tech ECE (Electronics and Communication Engineering) student must navigate a process that involves both academic qualifications and procedural steps. The AAI, functioning under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, is responsible for managing civil aviation infrastructure in India and offers internships that provide practical work experience relevant to a student’s field of study.

Firstly, the student should ensure they meet the educational qualifications required by AAI. For a B.Tech ECE student, this typically means having a full-time regular Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 60% marks in Electronics/ Telecommunications/ Electrical with specialization in Electronics from a recognized or deemed university or from an apex institution like IIT, as recognized by the Government of India.

Once the academic criteria are met, the student needs to gather the necessary documents for the application. These include:

1. A duly filled application form signed by an AAI employee who is referring the student.
2. An original Bonafide Certificate from the respective college.
3. A copy of the College ID card of the student.

The student should then visit the AAI office personally with an internship letter obtained from their college. This letter should be submitted to the AAI, and it is advisable to apply early since the selection process is competitive and only a limited number of candidates are chosen.

Additionally, the student should possess certain skills that are beneficial for securing a good job in the ECE field, which may also enhance their chances of getting an internship. These skills include mastering programming languages such as C and C++, understanding low-level programming languages like VHDL, and having a strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, digital electronics, and microprocessors.

For specific airports, such as Chennai Airport, the application process might have additional local requirements or procedures, and the processing time for applications can be around 10 days.
