How hard is it to secure an EY internship with a CAFTA course background?

This question was asked by Prakash Phand, who is interested in understanding the level of difficulty in obtaining an EY internship while pursuing a CAFTA course.

Securing an internship at Ernst & Young (EY) is known to be quite challenging due to the high level of competition. The acceptance rate for EY’s internship program is approximately 5%, with only about 3.5% of applicants receiving an offer. This indicates that the selection process is rigorous and only the most qualified candidates are chosen.

The application process for an EY internship involves several stages, including completing a standard application form, online tests assessing reasoning and business behaviors, a telephone interview, and finally, participation in a day-long assessment center. The assessment center includes group exercises and a final interview. Feedback is provided regardless of the outcome, making the experience valuable even if one does not secure the internship.

As for the Certificate in Applied Finance, Treasury, and Analytics (CAFTA), it is a certification program designed by EY professionals with diverse industry experience. The program provides students with an in-depth understanding of finance and treasury concepts, preparing them for lucrative career options in various domains such as banking, consulting, corporates, NBFC, insurance, etc.

However, it’s important to note that while having a CAFTA certification may enhance one’s knowledge and skills in finance and treasury, it does not guarantee an internship offer from EY. The selection for EY internships is based on a comprehensive evaluation of the candidate’s abilities, qualifications, and fit with the company culture, rather than solely on their educational credentials. Therefore, while a CAFTA course could potentially strengthen your application, the difficulty level of securing an EY internship remains high due to the competitive nature of the selection process.
