I got selected in TCS. Should I join it for experience or rather do MCA at DY Patil Pune?

This question was requested to Internset by Gauri on Quora, asking whether joining TCS through Smart Hiring offers more value than pursuing an MCA from DY Patil College, Pune.

If your goal is long-term career growth in IT, joining TCS is the better choice, especially if you’re coming from a non-premium college like DY Patil. TCS is a top-tier name in Indian IT with over 600,000 employees globally, strong client exposure, and clear paths for upskilling and internal promotions. You will gain real-world experience, build a professional network, and have a top brand on your résumé from day one, all of which matter more than classroom theory in most hiring situations.

Unless you are getting into a top MCA college like NITs, BITS, or the main campus of Pune University, an MCA from DY Patil will not open significantly better opportunities. You will spend two to three years without income and still land similar roles that TCS offers now. By joining TCS, you can take advantage of internal learning programs, sponsored higher studies, and career growth opportunities while earning.

The bottom line is simple. Take the job offer. Get hands-on experience. You can always pursue MCA later through distance or company-sponsored programs. Choosing a classroom degree over work experience at a leading company will only slow down your career, not speed it up.
